Hunter Engineering Company is a global leader in the development and manufacturing of computer based automotive service equipment.  We are in search of enthusiastic and self-motivated sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a major or minor in a field of study cohesive with Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Engineering.

EE/CE Co-Ops gain experience in:

 Product Testing

  • Execute a test plan under the direction of a project engineer, format the results in a useable and effective manner, analyze the results against stated objectives and write a report of the findings

 Computations and Calculations

  • Perform engineering computations and calculations at the direction and review of a project engineer to include any of the following: analog circuits, low frequency through RF, digital timing, system analysis

  • Assist in a building of a prototype by operating the various electronic hand and possibly machine tools and performing basic functions of that equipment

 Equipment Evaluation

  • Assemble/tear down equipment (competitor’s and Hunter’s) for hands-on experience and for assisting the project engineer in competitor analysis and/or equipment operation

 Liaison Engineering

  • Observe review meetings
  • Discuss the concept and principles of manufacturability/producibility with the project engineer and the manufacturing engineer
  • Assist and follow through to completion of an E.C.O.
  • Discuss the concept and principles of cost estimating with a manufacturing engineer
  • Assist and discuss an M.O.S.; review and observe, where possible, fabrication and assembly
  • Discuss the liaison role and requirements of getting a design out of engineering into manufacturing

 Vendor Interface

  • Observe a meeting between a project engineer and a vendor
  • Source a part or material at the direction of a project engineer

 Quality Assurance

  • Discuss the concept and principles of designing quality into a product
  • Discuss/contrast the concept of quality assurance versus quality control
  • Review some quality data and records on a given product or process
  • Review our quality standards and procedures

 Engineering Documentation

  • Review our standards manual and summarize the main principles in a brief written report
  • Assist a project leader in preparing some portion of a final engineering specification
  • Assist in preparing a bill of materials

The individual will be involved in a variety of projects which may include:

  • Electronic prototype construction and evaluation
  • Software distribution, installation and configuration
  • Test and evaluate prototypes
  • Electronics and mechanical shop projects; real world experience
  • Minor analysis and engineering calculations

It will be our intent and purpose to provide the individual with real world experience, which includes assisting in the progression of a product from concept stage to production.  This position will focus on exposing an aspiring electronic design engineer to the total product evolution process, including a first-hand, practical exposure to the manufacturing floor.  Our goal is to provide an experience that will be an important, effective first step in the career of a future project engineer.
